Farm Update: January 15, 2020

There's a lot going on at the farm these days. We recently dismantled and removed one of our coolers that has been in the wash house for years! This was a cooler that we used to store crops like peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes in. It used to take up a lot of space on the washhouse floor, and we are excited to have that room cleared for the storage of other items, and to allow for a better flow of traffic for our very diligent crew!

This cooler's name was Maurice! Maurice served us well, but it is time to bid it farewell!

At the same time as we had started taking apart this cooler, we had our new root washer delivered! Y'all, this is really exciting because we have had the same root washer for YEARS! Our new one was delivered on a very snowy day, and we were unsure if the trucker who brought it down our steep drive was going to be able to make it back up without ending up off the road! Don't worry, he did, but it definitely took longer than it would usually!

Isaac spent the rest of his day getting the different pieces brought inside and stashed in some out of the way locations in our washhouse until it is ready to be assembled the rest of the way. I'm not sure what the plans are for the other root washer at this point. It has been so good to us over the years, so I am sure that either Tim or Pete are working to ensure that it finds a new home!
